these ---> ! <--- at the end of it.)
Before we went on vacation to Cape Cod, which was splendid by the way, I got together with some new friends. Instead of going out to eat we decided to craft it up together. It was bond worthy. They're pretty awesome! We all ended up making wreaths, they made adorable fall wreaths, and I decided to make a halloween wreath.
I wanted (with their permission of course) to show of how cute their fall wreaths turned out! I snatched up the pictures they posted on facebook.
Amber's fall wreath, I love the pumpkins! |
Shelby's wreath, the chevron bow is perfect! |
Things I had:
-Styrofoam ring
-Orange yarn
-Black ribbon
-White tulle
-White/black speckled yarn- for the web
-Hot glue gun
What I bought (at Michaels):
-Black W- $.99
-Cream lace & Checkered rope- $3.00
-2 bundles of sparkly (things)- $4.00
-4 pack of skull coasters- $.99
-Small wood coffin- $.99
*Total cost of wreath: A whopping $10.00
First of all I must show you these cool coasters I found at Michaels...
Let's show you the coffin real quick. How I used the coaster will come full circle when you see it.
I want my coffin to look like this when I'm 8ft under! |
I cut the coaster to fit the coffin and used some tulle behind it to give it an ellusion of cobwebs or of something being drapped over the top of the coffin. However you look at it, I think it's pretty awesome. I'll probably use it as a decoration on our mantle, it ended up being too much and too big to add to my wreath.
Let's play I Spy, I'll start.
I spy the rest of the skull coaster...
Can you see it?
Pssst.
At the top of the spider web!
Yep. I can't WAIT to hang it on my door. |
I completety envision Miss. Spider from James and the Giant Peach spinning her web here. It's just so charming and fiesty all at the same time. If you don't know which spider I'm talking about you need to watch the movie! You won't be disappointed.
I took apart the orange sparkly things (no idea what they're called.. oops!) and strategically placed them where I wanted them to be. Some jutted out in just the right places while others weaved around encroaching on everything else. If you look close enough you'll see what I mean around the W.
I absolutely love layering a lot of different elements, the black ribbon is layered over the yarn, the lace over the black and then the orange and white checkered rope over the black moving in the opposite direction. Each element on there looks as if they're taking over each other and I love that!
The web certainly took me the longest to create, but it was more than worth it! |

p.s. We start construction next wednesday on the wall separating the front room and the kitchen. Im stoked! I'll tell you all about it and show you the plans. :)
Until then my friends!
